Remember. Unite. Renew.

Our website turned grey on April 7, 2014 in commemoration of the 20th year since the Rwandan genocide.

In April 1994, Rwanda was devastated by one of history’s worst atrocities. A million people were killed in 100 days. This month we remember the lives that were lost, unite as one Nation, and renew our commitment to work tirelessly for a brighter future.

I look back at all the achievements, accomplishments, successes, hard work, and sacrifices and I feel proud to be Rwandan. Our country has made extraordinary progress over the last 20 years.

Every day on the Akilah campus, I see the evidence of this progress: young women who are passionate about developing their communities and their Nation. Today, I want to share with you their dreams and their beliefs about what it means to be Rwandan.

Yours in gratitude,
Aline Kabanda
Rwanda Country Director
