The BME Degree is designed to equip young Rwandan women with the necessary skills to manage various aspects of a business and ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within these aspiring private sector leaders to develop a new business or organization. This three-year program will combine practical and theoretical training as students develop and manage the various campus businesses that will contribute to the Akilah Institute’s sustainability.
Course offerings will include business management, marketing, finance and leadership. Intensive sessions in applied information technology and English language will contribute to academic success and further prepare this generation of socially-minded Rwandan leaders for careers as business managers, owners or corporate intrapreneurs in a variety of global industries.
Students will participate in unique outside learning experiences as they interface with the Rwandan business community, not only via the campus businesses, but also through their required internships. Graduates will be required to successfully complete the course offerings in addition to completing an internship to earn their diploma. Students are required to show proficiency and utilize their technical, management, critical thinking and leadership techniques within the business administration and entrepreneurship industry.
Akilah is partnering with Women’s Business Development Council and Cornell University in the United States to design this program.
