Motherhood should simply never present a barrier to economic opportunity. As an organization working to advance and empower young African women in the workplace, we make every effort to accommodate the realities our students face. Akilah opened nurseries, also known as creches, at Akilah's campus in Rwanda in September of 2014. Students and staff receive free care for their babies and young children.
Students feel more secure about their futures knowing that Akilah supports them as woman and as students. With a nursery available to our young mothers, students are able to focus on their schoolwork and their professional goals. As they look to the future, these young mothers are encouraged to succeed at Akilah. Our nurseries are made possible by generous donations from Akilah supporters Veronica Goldberg and Jody Seibert.
