Incoming students included the second intake of the Entrepreneurship major. These students are brimming with ideas for the new ventures that they will launch one day.
New this year at Akilah is the Diploma in Information Systems. Rwanda country director Aline Kabanda says:
Information and Communication Technology is a central engine to driving Rwanda’s transformation to a knowledge-based economy. Rwanda continues to be one of the fastest-growing African countries in ICT and there are so many opportunities for growth and development in this sector. Akilah’s Information Systems program is developed as a response to the country’s priority, and is designed to provide students with the skills and competence needed to use software applications in today’s competitive business environment. This program combines the basic understanding of business processes along with solid computer software skills to help scale and optimize existing enterprises.
While students and faculty were busy with registration and welcoming students, visiting U.S. filmmaker Sean Christopher was on campus sneaking photos and footage for upcoming videos on Akilah’s mission, successes, and future plans.
