Dear Akilah Supporter,

I am deeply committed to the AKILAH INSTITUTE FOR WOMEN. I have seen first-hand how it is positively impacting our world. As my colleagues and I worked to spur growth and overcome poverty in the developing world, one of our principal lessons was that Gender Equality is Smart Economics. And we learned that educating girls and women is one of the smartest investments for a country on the path to prosperity.

On Akilah’s campus in Rwanda, education means an alternative to EARNING $2 PER DAY AS A SUBSISTENCE FARMER – THE ONLY CAREER PROSPECT FOR 85% OF WOMEN IN EAST AFRICA. Notably, Akilah achieved 100 percent employment for its first graduating class in 2012.

In 2011, I became an Akilah Ambassador after meeting Noella and Allen, two dynamic young women from Akilah who have since launched meaningful careers. Though they lost family members during the 1994 genocide, today they are confident, empowered professionals with the skills necessary to rebuild their country.

Like those two students, Akilah has undergone an impressive transformation from a small school to a globally recognized leader in women’s education and career development. In December, the second class will graduate, and a second campus will open in Burundi.

2013 Winter Campaign:

YOU ARE CRITICAL TO AKILAH’S 2013 WINTER CAMPAIGN to support scholarships for 340 young women in Rwanda and Burundi. Akilah has already raised an impressive $910,000 OF ITS $1 MILLION GOAL. We can ensure these talented young women have the chance to rise above poverty and become the next generation of women leaders and entrepreneurs.

Join me in giving the gift of infinite returns,
