Between their 2nd and 3rd year at Akilah, all students complete an internship in their industry.
This on-the-job training is a key component of the Akilah model, as students apply their skills into action in the workplace.
Ritah Tusabe, Akilah’s Career Development Officer, built new employment partnerships throughout the country for the first class of Entrepreneurship majors.
100% of our first class of Entrepreneurship students were placed in internships this summer! They are interning at JKK International Ltd, Akagera Business Group, Hello Foods, Kigali Farms, and many other businesses in Rwanda.
Hospitality Management majors are interning at companies such as RwandAir, Hotel des Milles Collines (owned by the Kempinski group), and Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
90% of our Hospitality Management alumnae in 2012-2013 secured employment right after graduation.
Amelie (below) and Christine (above) are interning at Airtel, a major telecommunications company in Africa.
At this year’s annual Rwanda Expo, Christine was responsible for representing the company to international visitors and businesspeople.
Two Hospitality Management students, Brenda and Ornella, are completing a special one-year internship with White Lodging at the Hilton Garden Inn in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Each student will complete at least 270 internship hours and begin their final year at Akilah in September.
We wish these trailblazers the best of luck!
